Hotıì ts'eeda places a high value on the mentoring and development that happens in its summer student program. Hotıì ts'eeda alumni summer student Joni Tsatchia (2018-2019) has used her skills to become one of 10 student researchers from the North to be awarded scholarships through the Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies (ACUNS) for a joint research project called Deh Gah Gotine.

Tsatchia’s work with Hotıì ts'eeda involved conducting primary research and supporting community events. Her strengths shone when interviewing and conducting focus groups, often in Tłıc̨hǫ language, on issues of community health and wellness.

Joni Tsatchia is working with Hotıì ts'eeda again this summer (2020).
