Job Opportunity: Associate Scientific Director

STATUS: Full-time Term March 31, 2021

The Associate Scientific Director is a public-facing position responsible for strategic policy implementation, working closely with the Hotıì ts'eeda Scientific Director and staff to achieve organizational goals and mandate.

The Associate Scientific Director position provides leadership to the organization in the areas of Capacity and Training, Knowledge Translation, and Patient Engagement. This includes overseeing the development of an approach to these areas, leading key initiatives, and representing the Unit at territorial, national, and international events and associated initiatives and working groups. The Associate Scientific Director will provide advice and expertise in the areas of Methods Development and Data as required. This position has a significant public relations role, requiring travel within the NWT and nationally on a regular basis to represent the Unit at conferences, as a speaker, and as a representative to national SPOR initiatives. In addition, up to 25% of the position’s time may be dedicated to Tłı̨chǫ Government research and initiatives related to health, broadly understood.

Applicants to this position will ideally have a Bachelors degree in a health profession or natural or physical sciences; 3-5 years of professional experience living and working in NWT community(s) outside of Yellowknife; experience working with NWT residents in a health care context; and, oral fluency in English and Tłı̨chǫ.
