2018 Ełèts’ehdèe Gathering

The 2018 Ełèts’ehdèe Gathering was held on May 22-24 at Aurora Village, on Chief Drygeese Territory, the traditional territory of the Yellowknives Dene. Supplemental sessions were held at the Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

The gathering brought together 130 people from across the Northwest Territories and Canada to discuss health and health research under the theme of “Decolonizing NWT Health Research”. The Ełèts’ehdèe provided a space for renewing and creating relationships between partners and for Hotıì ts’eeda to connect to the community to gain insight into ways to better support communities in understanding and improving their own health. The event hosted several plenary sessions bringing together community members, Elders, researchers and policy makers on several different subjects, as well as a youth engagement session focusing on how youth can be encouraged to get involved in health research and health professions.
