Health Research Project Manager, Capacity and Knowledge
Four Year Term Position

The Gwich’in Tribal Council (GTC) is seeking a highly-motivated individual to fill the position of Health Research Project Manager in Inuvik, NT.

Reporting to the Director of Gwich’in Services, the position leads the work to facilitate health research-related capacity and training and research method development initiatives with the objective of improving health outcomes for Indigenous peoples throughout the Northwest Territories.

This position is part of the CIHR-funded Hotıì ts'eeda: Northwest Territories SPOR SUPPORT Unit. SUPPORT Units (Support for People and Patient-Oriented Research and Trials Units) are a core element of Canada’s national Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) under the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR).

The Project Manager is responsible for leading Hotıì ts'eeda work in supporting community based health research with a focus on Indigenous health. This includes supporting the application of Indigenous research methods in collaboration with western science, and ensuring knowledge is presented to and retained in communities requires facilitating and maintaining strong relationships across the NWT and with academic organizations, in collaboration with the SPOR Unit’s Scientific Director.

The ideal candidate will possess a Masters’ level post-secondary degree in a social, natural, physical sciences or health field. Applicants should demonstrate relevant experience working with Indigenous communities, and academic and Indigenous knowledge holders and/or experience in developing and implementing capacity and training initiatives in health-related and/or Indigenous contexts. A combination of equivalent or relevant education and work experience would be considered.

A competitive salary and generous benefits package will be offered which includes allowances of $20,000 per annum as well as health, dental, short and long term disability benefits, life insurance, and generous leave entitlements.
