Kátł’odeeche First Nation is looking for an energetic individual be part of the Dene Wellness & Development Centre team. The job description is below:
We are looking for someone that is energetic, passionate, and has a desire and commitment to promote and coordinate wellness and development opportunities for people in the NWT.
The candidate must have proficient computer and office administration skills and be detail orientated. They should have some experience coordinating and managing events, activities and workshops as well as supervising staff on occasion. Being familiar with northern indigenous and dene culture, values, and traditional practices is an asset.
The candidate must be willing to provide culturally safe and quality service to clients and contractors at the Centre, ensuring all needs are met and operations in the building run smoothly during wellness and development events and/or workshops. The program assistant (at times) will work under pressure and deadlines, and will be responsible for operations of workshops/ events/ meetings/ building rentals that take place at the Centre including booking travel, purchasing materials, using spreadsheets, composing marketing materials.
The position will include coordinating and taking care of facilitators, Elders, and participants, as well as preparing the workshop materials, food, and spaces in the centre. Experience and/or education related to program coordination would be an asset. Diploma in office administration preferred.
Proficient computer skills with outlook, word, publisher, excel are required. The Incumbent will be able to multi-task, prioritize, and be organized. This position will directly report to the Executive Director and will often work independently. A mentorship and training period of 3-4 weeks will occur as part of the position. Hours may be flexible at times during workshops or events, but generally will be 8:30-4:30pm. Rate of pay will depend on education, skills, and/or experience. A driver’s licence is required and preferable a Class IV or willingness to obtain a Class IV licence.
