Hotıì ts'eeda and Aurora Research Institute (ARI) have collaborated to support potential research grant writers in the NWT. Within universities, Tri-Council applicants often have access to experts in grant writing. Accessibility to this funding in the North is hampered by lack of academic resources to support those making applications.
The Research CASH (Capacity, Access, and Strength Here) workshops aimed to develop the significant research potential in the territory that could be well-positioned to win academic grants from Tri-Council funders (SSHRC, CIHR, and NSERC). Attendees received training and working support from research officers specializing in each of the Tri-Council programs, academic mentors, and successful Northern researchers. The goal was to build Northern research capacity and increase access to federal research funding programs for NWT researchers and communities.
The full suite of grant-writing materials can be found on the Aurora Research Institute website at: https://nwtresearch.com/resources/research-cash. The materials are arranged in a series of ten sessions that cover the knowledge and skills required to write a research grant proposal from start to finish. Session 5 is specifically designed for community partners who review research or partner on research projects.
RCA$H materials and legacy wil be managed and preserved by the Aurora Research Insitute under the supervision of Dr. Sara Komarnisky.
