Hotıì ts'eeda was pleased to support ten Indigenous counseling students beginning in the 2020-2021 year. Students enrolled in the Northern Indigenous Counselling (NIC) program were offered support that could go towards their tuition, books, living expenses, or anything that would support their academic success.
NIC is led by Roy and Jean Erasmus and a partnership between Dene Wellness Warriors and Rhodes Wellness College. The program is delivered online and in Yellowknife with the goal of helping Indigenous northerners become professional counselors.
A second NIC cohort began the program in September 2023. Hotıì ts'eeda is proud to commit support for all 19 NWT students in the cohort through their two years of studies.
