The Healthy Family Program Renewal Project is a two-year project to review and renew the Healthy Family Program. The Healthy Family Program is run by the Government of the Northwest Territories. The project is currently in the program planning and implementation phase.
The Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Health and Social Services (GNWT-HSS) contracted Hotıì ts'eeda to undertake a review and renewal of its Healthy Families Program (HFP) in 2018. Hotıì ts'eeda has assisted with a program renewal approach rooted in community-connected, Indigenous strengths-based, and culturally-competent programming.
Project goals
- gather information to better understand parenting in the NWT;
- ground the renewed program in features unique to NWT communities and populations; and,
- create a good process and lasting relationships around early childhood programming in the NWT.
The three-year project began with a research and evaluation phase, which included visits to nine different NWT communities, surveys, interviews and sharing circles, and a design phase. Both were completed in March 2020. Hotıì ts'eeda continues to work with GNWT-DHSS on the current program planning and implementation phase of the HFP Renewal project.
