John J. Gon is a member of the Tłıchǫ̨ First Nation, and has been in the media industry for the last 20 years, first as the Writer / Broadcaster with CBC North Television, and later worked with the Native Communication Society as a radio host. Mr. Gon went on to work with the Government of the NWT as the Communications Coordinator, and later became a business owner. Mr. Gon has been running his award-winning media business since 2005.

As independent Producer, Mr. Gon has been credited for the collections of Dene Elders’ stories and other documentaries. The Elders’ stories can be heard on CKLB radio and Social Media.     

John Gon holds a Journalism diploma from the First Nation Technical Institute / Humber College and a certificate from the Capilano University in Print and Broadcast Journalism. He also holds credentials in Interpreting/ Translations, Public Speaking, Media Communications, and Business Management.  Mr. Gon believes in the preservation of Tłıchǫ̨ language and culture, as he is fluent in his first language Tłıchǫ̨.
