Jessica Dutton, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Indigenous and Global Health Research Group at the University of Alberta and a Research Associate at the Aurora Research Institute. This position is hosted by Hotıì ts’eeda and is focused on coordinating COVID-19 research throughout the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.Jessica grew up in Southern Ontario where she attended the University of Toronto to get a Ph.D. in public health sciences. She has spent ten years conducting research in the North and has lived in the NWT for the last 8 years on community-based research that examines the intersections of food and health for Northerners by leading studies in traditional food use, greenhouse feasibility, local food economies, and sustainable food production. Since starting her postdoc, Jessica has been focused on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives of Northerners.
